Our team
Each trustee brings frontline clinical experience and a shared commitment to careful planning, strong governance and person-centred Wish Journeys.

Kieran Hutcheon
Founder, trustee and paramedic
I’m a paramedic with experience in community-based care and a particular interest in palliative and end-of-life care. My work is grounded in clear communication, cultural awareness, death literacy and compassion. Through Wish Ambulance Scotland, I want to help create a service that combines sound clinical judgement with genuine humanity, enabling people living with serious illness to make journeys that matter to them. As a co-founder and trustee, I help shape the charity’s clinical standards, governance and long-term direction so that every Wish Journey is planned safely, respectfully and around the individual and those closest to them.

Dan Bickmore
Co-founder, trustee and paramedic
I’m a paramedic with just under 10 years frontline experience across emergency and urgent care. I also work as a pre-hospital expert witness and provide clinical cover for events and film productions, bringing experience in clinical decision-making, risk assessment and patient-centred care. Co-founding Wish Ambulance Scotland grew from a belief that serious illness should not prevent someone from reaching a person, place or occasion that matters deeply to them. As a trustee, I focus on turning that belief into a practical, accountable and clinically safe service, while keeping dignity, compassion and the wishes of each participant and their family at the heart of every journey.

Karen Gill
Co-founder, trustee and paramedic
I began my ambulance career after eight years working as a healthcare call handler. I wanted to develop the knowledge and practical skills to support people face to face, rather than only over the phone. Attending palliative-care calls could be difficult, but it was also a privilege—especially when I could make someone more comfortable or ease things, even slightly, for them and their family. Dan and I worked regularly as crewmates for years and shared a determination to do everything we could for everyone involved in those calls. Away from work, I play fiddle in a traditional Scottish music orchestra and enjoy golf on my local nine-hole course. I’m delighted to be a founding trustee and look forward to helping create memorable, meaningful journeys for our Wish participants.
Our shared purpose
